TCI Foundation implements CSR of the corporate TLI based at Bangalore with an objective to provide comprehensive basic medical services to long distance truckers and rural population nearby to health centres on national highways. Three health centres are facilitated on national highways of Krishnagiri (Tamil Nadu), Belagavi (Karnataka) and Bilaspur (Gurgaon). The centres are working in integrated approach to provide medical services with focus on occupational ailments of drivers and vision correction.

Impact

The project ‘Kavach’ was a revolutionary change in the country to bring the concept of “National Truckers Interventions” which was adopted by the National AIDS Control Organization (NACO) Ministry of Health & Family Welfare Government of India. The best practices of the project were assimilated by NACO in the national programme.
