TCI Foundation in collaboration with International Labour Organization (ILO) was instrumental to implement HIV Screening and Testing in India which aims to reach out the truck Drivers, helpers and allied population with HIV & TB screening services using voluntary counselling and testing (VCT) and self-testing.
 
															This project was implemented in two phases; the first phase was implemented from 1st of September to 30th November 2021, and Second phase from 1st of February to 31st May 2022.
COVID-19 pandemic had created an unprecedented situation for vulnerable groups including truck drivers and their helpers to access necessary HIV and TB services. This project was a value addition to those population who were unaware of their HIV status or tested a long back.
TCI Foundation worked in association with the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation (BMGF) on thematic area HIV/AIDS Control amongst long distance truck drivers and allied population under BMGF program ‘Aavahan’ launched for India in the year 2003.
The project was focused on mobile population of truckers and allied population in India and was implemented through local NGOs across states in India. The project was implemented from 2003-09 and its successful implementation in the country led National AIDS Control Organization (NACO) to transform the best practices of the project to National Program for truckers under Bridge Population.
